Fun Facts About Wyoming:
The JCPenney stores were started in Kemmerer.
The largest coal mine in the USA is Black Thunder located near Wright.
The Red Desert in south central Wyoming drains neither to the east nor to the west. The continental divide splits and goes around the desert on all sides leaving the basin without normal drainage.
The Horse on the Wyoming license plate has a name, “Old Steamboat”.
The state has 7 national parks and 12 state parks
Rodeo became the official state sport of Wyoming in 2003.

Fun Facts About New Mexico:
Even though Pluto is no longer a planet, its discoverer was New Mexican Clyde Tombaugh.
More chili peppers are farmed in New Mexico than all other states combined.
Albuquerque has more than 300 local hot air balloons, making it the hot air balloon capital of America with more than any other city.
At over 8,000 feet, the Capulin Volcano is so tall that five states can be seen from the top: New Mexico, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.
With more than 30 pounds of green chili, Gallup, N.M. holds the world record for the world’s largest Navajo taco.
The first atomic bomb ever detonated was set off near Alamogordo in 1945. The site is now known as the Trinity Site.
More uranium was produced in Grants, N.M. than anywhere else in America during the wars of 20th century, leading it to be dubbed the “uranium capital of the world.”
The Sandia Peak Tramway is the longest working aerial tramway in North America. It is 2.7 miles long.
The World Shovel Race Championship is held every year in Angel Fire, N.M.
Carlsbad Caverns are truly massive, with one chamber alone stretching over 3,000 feet with a height at some places of 22 stories.

Fun Facts About North Dakota:
Milk is the official state beverage.
The piles of rock on White Butte, North Dakota’s highest point, are known of as rock johnnies or sheepherder’s monuments and according to legend were piled there by sheepherders as a way to pass the time while they tended their flocks.
The Lewis and Clark expedition encountered their first grizzly (brown) bears in North Dakota.
North Dakota hosts the largest French fry feed.
The world’s largest Holstein Cow statue is 38 feet high and 50 feet long and is visible for 5 miles.
Turtle Lake celebrates turtles, hard-shelled reptiles often found in the water. Turtle Lake has erected a two-ton sculpture of a turtle near the entrance to the city. The town is the home of the annual United States Turtle Racing Championship.
President Theodore Roosevelt first came to Dakota Territory in September 1883 to hunt bison. Before returning home to New York, he became interested in the cattle business and established the Maltese Cross Ranch and the Elkhorn Ranch.
Killdeer Mountain Roundup Rodeo is the home of North Dakota’s oldest PRCA rodeo.
North Dakota grows more sunflowers than any other state.
The town of Rugby is the geographical center of North America. A rock obelisk about 15 feet tall, flanked by poles flying the United States and Canadian flags marks the location.

Acadia National Park is the second most visited national park in the United States.
Freeport is the home to the L.L. Bean Company.
Maine is the largest harvester of lobster. In 2011, over 104 million pounds of lobster was caught in Maine waters.
Famed horror author Stephen King calls Bangor, Maine home. Many of his books are based in Maine.
Over the years, many movies or scenes from movies have been filmed in Maine. Maine has appeared in “Forrest Gump,” “Jumanji,” “Message in a Bottle,” and “The Cider House Rules.”
Maine is home to a 40-acre desert just outside of Freeport.
