· 2 pieces of fabric ½ yard each for inside and outside of potholder. 1/3 yard of fabric for center-cutting instructions below

· 2 pieces of RNK Embroidery batting 8 ¼”x 8 ¼”. Embroidery batting is a cotton/polyester batting that is very sturdy

· 1 piece of RNK Hot n Cold barrier fleece 8 ¼”x 8 ¼”.

· Standard sewing thread in a neutral color

· Floriani Chrome 80/12 microtex needle.

· Quilter’s Select Glue stick

· Quilter’s Select marker

· Quilter’s Select 12 ½” x 12 ½” square ruler

· Quilter’s Select rotary cutter

· Quilter’s Straight pins- They are longer than regular pins to pin through all the layers

· ¼” stitching pressure foot for your machine. Also a pressure foot for stitching heavy fabrics if you have one.

· RNK Turning tool

· 4” length of extra wide double fold bias tape or grosgrain ribbon

· An 18”x18” premade neutral colored pillow or an 18”x18” neutral colored pillow cover.

· 6”x width of fabric of three different pieces of fabric for the wreath. I like using woven plaid
“homespun” fabric or flannel as they are loosely woven and the same color on both sides.
Any cotton fabric will as well.

· 6”x width of fabric, of a piece of fabric for the bow

Although I love quilts, it is my son, who was then 11, who taught me to truly LOVE them! I spent much of his childhood teaching classes at major quilt seminars around the country. He traveled with me one year to the Vermont Quilt Festival. I recall him wanting me to read each description of those on display. I was then called to one of the antique quilt booths of a vendor. An 1880 bow tie quilt attracted me because of the myriad of prints all pieced together and quilted on a wool batt.

The colors were amazing and Clay approved, wanting to take it home. He had tears in his eyes when it was placed on his bed. I explained it was over 100 years old and fragile in every way. That it needed to be rolled to the foot of his bed at night. A few days later I passed his room only to find him wrapped “snug as a bug in a rug”. My response, “Oh, Clay.” Naturally he responded. “But, Mama, it makes me sleep so good!” I then knew what quilts are meant to do and this child taught me what no class ever could! The quilt above is not that beloved quilt (it was loved too much to survive). It is a quilt made by someone with love.

All the blocks are intact, except for 9 red bows. I now can add love to this quilt by repairing those red bows. This lesson is meant for you to bring back to life those “loved quilts” you may wish to give another life. I found this at an estate sale and watched a lady carefully looking it over. After minutes she moved away. I grabbed it. Price $20! Less than the 1880’s one, but the perfect homecoming gift for our son. I’ll tag it, “Roll up tight, and sleep so good.” Note- Although the instructions picture a Bow Tie Quilt repair, the process is the same for any quilt. Use these directions, identifying your quilt inside the software pattern options.

What an easy way to turn a neutral pillow into a holiday pillow! There a lot of options for creating this band. You can embroider, applique, decorative stitch or use heat transfer vinyl to decorate the band. You can choose to decorate the front and back of the band or just one side. When you reverse the band you can decorate it with another holiday!

You’ve probably seen a few posts on Warm Winter Wishes if you follow our social media, right? Well, what’s all the hype about anyways? For the first time ever, Embellish is launching a new program called, “License to Create”! We kinda think it’s a little blog worthy, but we will let you decide! It’s spooky season and we are in love with this project that Clarrisa made! With the Harry Potter Font, adorable skeletons, and the loving family incorporation, we are here for this!

· ½ yard of fabric for pillow front and back

· 12”x20” pillow form

· 12-14” invisible zipper for back

· 2 yards of ½” wide cord for outside edge-mine didn’t have a flange so I ended up stitching
mine on by hand (optional)

· Floriani Metallic thread-THE BEST ON THE MARKET!! Not one thread break.

· 60wt thread for embroidering the small lettering- I used Quilter’s Select Perfect Cotton Plus.
It has a polyester core for strength and cotton on the outside for a cotton look. It behaved
great while embroidering!

Clarrisa has done it again with another amazing #fall project for you! This is the perfect addition to your home décor needs and wants! Ready to create it? Follow the tutorial below!

Supplies:

• 3 hand embroidery hoops of various sizes. I used an 8 ½”, 6 ½” and 5 ¼” hoop.

The embroidery designs can be adjusted for whatever size hoops you have.

• 1 yard of fabric for the background. Use a “vintage” looking fabric. I used a loosely woven
linen. Monks Cloth, osnaburg, burlap, twill, linen, drill and Waffle weave fabric all work well.
Make sure the fabric isn’t too thick like canvas as you will need to hoop it. I found quite a
few fabrics in the Utility section of fabrics at Joann’s.

• Spray Starch

• Various scraps of fabric in oranges for pumpkins, browns for the stems and greens for the
leaves. I ended up purchasing 1/8th of a yard of about 7 different prints for the oranges as I
didn’t have many scraps.

• 1 yard of ¾” wide grosgrain ribbon to join the hoops to together on the back and create a
loop for hanging.

• Glue gun and extra glue

• A piece of RNK Sew Fab Foam about 15”x15”

• Floriani Embroidery thread and bobbin thread

• Floriani Heat n Gone topper- This is generally used as a topper. For this project we are
going to use it as a stabilizer. The roll is generally 10” wide and you will be using a hoop
about 200mmx300mm. 10” isn’t wide enough for the width of this hoop so you will use 2
pieces for each hooping. You will need to hoop 3 times for the 3 pumpkins so you will need
about 80”x10” (the width of the roll). You can get Heat n Gone in a 20” wide roll which
works out better for this project. You’ll only need 40” of a 20”wide roll.
